Wrap Around Extension, Suffolk
The existing property is a 1950's semi-detached three bedroom house, with extensive garden to the rear and large driveway, on the edge of a conservation area in Suffolk. The close proximity to the conservation area, and National Trust properties meant that a careful and considered planning approach was required.
Our clients wished to provide additional ground floor living space, and increase the natural light into the centre of the home, whilst improving the connection with the large rear garden.
The design intent from the outset was to enable the new extension to the rear to be 1.5-2x the typical floor to ceiling height to maximise day light and views. This provided a slight planning challenge, which was resolved by a large flat roofed extension to the rear, providing almost 3metres of ceiling height, meeting a planning required pitched roof side extension.

The internal spaces are finished to a very high standard, with bespoke kitchen units, herringbone engineered timber flooring and expansive kitchen island all providing really nice features.
Storage space has increased dramatically and includes a bespoke new laundry and utility room, along with an expansive separate pantry complete with bespoke glazed pocket door entry.
Huge sliding doors, and large roof lantern provide vast amounts of lighting deep into the centre of the house.

Externally, a new bound gravel patio space was provided, and allows a great flow between the extension and garden.
The project was completed by JCT General Building in Spring 2026.
